What a small business website is actually for

Most small businesses do not need a clever website. They need one that loads fast on a phone, says clearly what they do and where, shows proof that they are good at it, and makes contacting them a single tap.

What I do with it

A website for a small business that does the one job it is for - bringing in enquiries - at a fixed price you know before any work starts.

  • 5-6 pages for a business that needs to be online properly, or 10-12 with a page per service when you want each one found on Google
  • Mobile-first design that is quick on a slow connection, because that is how most of your visitors arrive
  • An enquiry button on every page
  • On-page SEO and Google indexing from day one
  • Google Business Profile setup on the larger package, so you show up in Maps as well as in search
  • SSL, and the domain and hosting bought in your name rather than mine

What a small business website is actually for

Most small businesses do not need a clever website. They need one that loads fast on a phone, says clearly what they do and where, shows proof that they are good at it, and makes contacting them a single tap.

That is the brief I build to. Everything else - animations, sliders, a page for every idea anyone had in the meeting - is cost without return, and I will say so before it ends up on the invoice.

What is included

  • 5-6 pages for a business that needs to be online properly, or 10-12 with a page per service when you want each one found on Google.
  • Mobile-first design that is quick on a slow connection, because that is how most of your visitors arrive.
  • An enquiry button on every page - WhatsApp, phone or a contact form that reaches your inbox.
  • On-page SEO and Google indexing from day one: titles, descriptions, structured data and a sitemap.
  • Google Business Profile setup on the larger package, so you show up in Maps as well as in search.
  • SSL, and the domain and hosting bought in your name rather than mine.

How the price works

You get an itemised, fixed quote against a written scope before anything starts. What moves the number is easy to see: how many pages, whether you need booking or payments, and whether the content needs writing.

There is no hourly meter and no surprise invoice at the end. Changes during the build are included; anything substantial after launch is quoted first.

Built so you are not stuck with me

The domain, hosting and site are yours, in your name. You can edit content yourself, and if you ever want another developer to take over, the code is written so they can.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about small business websites.

How much does a small business website cost?+

It depends on the number of pages, whether you need booking or online payments, and whether the content needs writing. You get a fixed, itemised quote against a written scope before any work starts - send me what you need and you will have it within a day.

How long does it take?+

A 5-6 page site is typically live in 3 to 7 days once the content is ready. A larger site with a page per service, Google Business Profile and booking takes one to two weeks.

Will people find it on Google?+

It is built to be found: proper titles and descriptions, structured data, a sitemap submitted to Google, and Google Business Profile for local searches. Ranking also depends on competition and time, so I will not promise a position - anyone who does is guessing.

Do I own the website?+

Yes. The domain and hosting are bought in your name, and you get the code. Nothing is held back to keep you paying.

Can I update it myself?+

Yes - text, images and blog posts can be edited without touching code. If you would rather not, monthly maintenance covers changes for you.
