About the Compare PDF

Shows what changed between two versions of a PDF. Each page is drawn from both files and compared pixel by pixel, with the differences painted in red over the newer version, so a moved paragraph or an edited figure is obvious at a glance. Pages that exist in only one of the two files are flagged separately. Unchanged pages are left out entirely, which is what makes a long document readable.

Frequently asked questions

Does it compare the text or the appearance?+

The appearance. That catches everything a text comparison would miss - a changed logo, a shifted table, different spacing - at the cost of flagging a reflowed paragraph as changed even when the words are identical.

Why is a page shown as completely different?+

Either it exists in only one of the two files, or the layout shifted enough that almost nothing lines up - inserting a paragraph early in a document usually pushes every page after it.

Are both files uploaded?+

Neither. Both are rendered and compared in your browser, which matters when you are diffing two drafts of a contract.
