About the Unlock PDF

Removes protection from a PDF you can already open. Most locked files carry only an owner password, which sets permission flags like “no printing” - those are stripped while every page stays exactly as it was. A file that demands a password to open is genuinely encrypted, so it needs that password, and unlocking it means redrawing the pages, which turns the text into an image. The tool tells you which of the two happened.

Can it open a PDF whose password I do not know?+

No, and it does not try. It removes protection from documents you already have access to. Guessing or breaking passwords is not something this tool does.

Why did my text stop being selectable?+
