About the Add Page Numbers to PDF
Stamps page numbers onto a PDF in the corner or centre you choose. The format box takes {n} for the number and {total} for the page count, so “Page {n} of {total}” prints exactly that. Numbering can start at any value, which matters when the document is one chapter of something longer.
How to add page numbers to a PDF
Choose the PDF, pick where the number goes - any corner or the centre of the top or bottom - and set the format. {n} is replaced by the page number and {total} by the number of pages, so Page {n} of {total} prints "Page 3 of 12". Numbering can start at any value, which matters when the PDF is one chapter of a longer document.
Tips
- Put your pages in the final order first with Organize PDF - numbers are stamped onto the page.
- Bottom centre is the convention for reports and essays; bottom right for legal bundles.
- Combining several files? Merge them first so the numbering runs through.
