Does cropping delete the content outside the box?+
No. It changes the visible area only; the original content stays in the file. That is how PDF cropping works everywhere, including Acrobat, and it means a crop is reversible.
Why percentages instead of millimetres?+
A percentage works the same on every page size, so one setting crops an A4 page and a Letter page sensibly. Each side is capped at 45% so you cannot crop a page out of existence by accident.
Can different pages be cropped differently?+
Run the tool twice, using the Pages box to pick a different set each time. The tool applies one set of margins per run.
